STUD SERVICES
Stud services are taken with the utmost of precautions when working with Montcorn Doxies. We typically do not breed our dogs outside our program, so if we do decide your dam is a good candidate for mating with our stud Valentine, we have some very strict procedures that must occur before we will proceed. If you are interested in breeding your dam, we do require that you do take your dam to our vet. She will be required to have a brucellosis test performed with a negative result, an up to date record of all age appropriate vaccinations (including Bordatella as she will be boarding with us), a fecal exam with negative results, and an progesterone test performed so we can appropriately base her breeding window (this may need to be performed more the once). All of the associated fees incurred are at the dams owners expense. We will also require a photocopy of your dams registration information and her microchip number which needs to be verifiable through our vets records at the time. If she doesn’t have a microchip then our vet needs to implant one at that time and record the number information for our verification. We will be reverifying this microchip number when we are boarding her at our home with our microchip reader to verify her identity. Breeding will be a 3 day process, we will board her with in our home during the process, at which time we will be attempting to achieve at least 3 or more successful “ties” at one a day for her three day stay here with us. We do not allow the dogs to breed unattended as this can be dangerous, and we will only do so if the required progesterone testing was completed and concludes the dam is ready at that time. When
we have called our vet and received this information via email or phone from their office and confirmed the results we will proceed with the next steps and arrange the appropriate time to board her. Once we have successfully mated the pair and your dam goes home, we will help you with due date calculations and will set you up with a list of recommendations of supplements and proper nutrition for a pregnant bitch and will remain in contact with you throughout the duration of her pregnancy. If after 70 days pass and there are no puppies we will have one more attempt at boarding/mating, if this proves unsuccessful a second time the contract is void and we are done. Our stud services fee is $500-700 and if paying the fee this will be due before you pick up your dam from boarding and you will receive the registration information for our stud at that time. If we choose to agree on our pick of the litter as payment, we will not release our studs registration information until we have received the healthy puppy post delivery. No pup, no registration for your litter. Although this is not a hard requirement, dogs are very much like people, in that if they are not familiar with each other they may not breed successfully, and may even fight instead. They can also be very scared when they have been left with strangers for three days, around strange dogs, and a unfamiliar mate is attempting to mate with them. I don’t necessarily care for an arrangement that does not allow for enough time for them to get properly acquainted BEFORE their heat cycle or estrus breeding window, and am truly not a big fan of the slam bam thank you ma’am situation. So with that being said, if you are interested in stud services please plan ahead a little and let’s try to make arrangements for the dogs to meet (with utd shot records and fecal tests in hand). This first visits main purposes, is for you and the dam to meet my household, and to have a proper kennel tour, so at least you know exactly where and with whom your pup will be boarding for 3 days. I would be much more comfortable if things are thoroughly planned. We have attached our stud service contract below, please go ahead and download it and read over it. If you are still interested and wish to proceed then please send us an email and then send the contract back with your part filled out and signed including a photocopy of the dams registration. We do not perform stud services with an unregistered dam. Please do NOT ask me to make an exception of these rules for you, I will NOT do that. If you can’t do these things the way it’s detailed here for you, then we don’t need to breed. My dogs are my babies and I won’t risk their health for anything or anyone, so be prepared to follow these steps in their entirety. Thank you and have a furtastic day!!
